美國總統歐巴馬二○○九年上任後，所發的第一份全球性的賀詞，就是向全球慶祝「亞裔農曆新年」（Asian Lunar New Year）的人賀年。許多美國人被搞迷糊了，經過媒體解釋，才明白所謂的「亞裔農曆新年」就是大家口中的「中國年」（Chinese New Year）。
